Repeated Hiccups, Sinus Pressure With Drainage And Stuffiness In Nasal Passages, Drainage Stops With Hiccups. No Relief With Drinking Water, Several Home Remedies. What Can Be Done?

My 50 year old brother has had hiccups on and off for 2 days. He s also had sinus pressure and drainage and stuffiness in his nasal passages. When the hiccups go away, he has noticed the drainage stop and his nasal passages clear. He has tried honey , sugar, drinking cold water and breathing into a paper bag to stop the hiccups. Nothing seems to work. Any suggestions?

Hi there,

Thanks for your query.

Here are some simple remedies for stopping hiccups:-

* Take a deep breath, hold it as long as possible, till hiccups stop.

* Ice-cold water will also stop hiccups.

* Tickle the back of your throat with your finger till hiccups stop.
