Renal Ultrasound Showed Kidney Stone, Prominent Column Separating Upper Pole From Rest Of Kidney. Meaning?

I had a renal ultrasound that showed a 6 mm stone in my right kidney and 2 stones in the left one of which measures 4.5 mm. The report also states a prominent column seperating the upper pole from the rest of the left kidney. Can you tell me what the latter part means? My email is YYYY@YYYY Thank you in advance for you time

Hi,

Welcome to HCM.

The scan probably shows that the collecting system of the kidney is in two parts.
It is better seen in special xrays like IVP, but it is not mandatory unless symptomatic.
The stones need only conservative management and no surgery to remove them is required at present.

Regards
