Good Afternoon, I just had my splint removed from a revision rhinoplasty involving harvested cartilage from my ear (the surgeon I went to is well-known and respected). However, upon removing the splint noticed a odd indentation/divot to the right side of my bridge (mid-way down, towards tip). He told me everything was nicely wrapped with fascial cartilage to smooth out any indentations or the unevenness in septal and additional conchal cartilage. I don t doubt he knows what he s doing, but I am just concerned, and curious. The indent is not a oval or smooth indentation, but a rather odd shape - more square in shape and uneven. I asked if this could be permanent and he said he didn t know, but to wait until the swelling subsides (this is day 6 after surgery). Of course I will wait, I don t really have a choice! But I am confused as to what the possible cause of this could be? Was my surgical tape placed to tight? Could an interior dissolvable stitch be too tight? Collapsed graft? This is my 3rd surgery to correct a broken nose from childhood. Surgery 1) - fix deviated septum (2000) Surgery 2) reduce turbinates, rebreak nose to straighten, refine tip (2011) Surgery 3) fix collapsed external valve with cartilage grafts, re-break (again) to straighten, alar grafts, and cartilage to columella to support tip. (2013) Any advice is appreciated. I am very anxious, nervous, scared. Thank you!
