Red Spot On Lower Calf, Swollen Ankle. Visited Hospital. Any Ideas?

I have a dime size red spot on my lower calf. It seemed to appear suddenly. It is not sore. I vaguely remember scratching this area a day or so ago, maybe enough to break the skin. What could it be? Also, my husband had a two week stay in the hospital and returned home about a week ago. I was under tremendous stress and visited him almost daily. My ankle on the same side (left) is slightly swollen, but I don't feel any pain in the area.

Hi,
From history it seems that you might be having some insect bite probably in the hospital giving rise to some allergic reaction and some infection due to itching.
Take some anti-histamin like Cetrizine or Benadryl for 2-3 days.
Apply some soothing cream on the part.
Ok and take care.
