Red bumps on child leg, allergic reaction

My 15 mo. baby has been getting quite a bit of insect bites on her legs lately. I can see about 20 or so red bumps on her left leg alone. Just now I noticed her big toe is red and swollen, could this be an allergic reaction to the insect bites? I ve made an appointment with a pediatrician tomorrow but just had to ask one now...

Pediatrician 's  Response
Dear stainlessbox In the heading of insect bites there could be three categories (1) Flea bites whch affects mostly legs they are not usually painful to start but tends to get itchy. Some persons could be extreamly allergic to flea bites. It tends to get infected. The places to get flea bites are households with pets, parks and sea coasts withn sand fleas. (2)Spider bite They are usually largest bite they can go bigger in sevaral days and their number vary from 1 to5. They tends to get infected.(3)Mosquito bite These are usually affect the exposed areas like hands ankles fore arms. They rarely give any problem except persons who are allergic to mosquito bites. Checking your description I feel it could be fleabitis with infection. I am sure Pediatrician will examine your daughter thoroughly and give appropriate advise and treatment. I wish her speedy recovery. Kindest regards.
