Red And Swollen Nostril. Taken Bactrim. Have Frequent Tonsil Stones. Runny Nose

I ve had a red, swollen right nostril , tonsil , and lymph node for about a month now and had one treatment of bactrim for twice a day for ten days with no results. I also have tonsil stones regularly. I find it weird that it s only my right side and no symptoms on my left, at all. I also have no other symptoms (no flu, cold, allergies, etc.) My right nostril runs from the irritation (clear and bloody, and infected). 26 years old.

Hello,
You need to ensure that the bloody discharge from the nostril is not because of a condition called vasculitis.
If you are certain that you do not have any allergies, then this must be excluded.
If you have symptoms of a flu-like illness (not fever), but aching joints and feeling miserable, vasculitis needs to be excluded given the time frame of symptoms.

This needs the following blood tests: Complete hemogram, urea, creatinine, electrolytes, LFTs, ANA, ANCA with MPO PR3 levels (If ANCA positive), urine dipstick to exclude protein/sugar, nasal swab to exclude chronic staph carriage.
Please see your doctor for these tests. The treatment will depend on the results.

If these come back as negative, see an ENT surgeon as to why the right side keeps flaring and you get recurrent tonsilitis. I am not sure what you meant by tonsil stones but I hope this will help.

Best Wishes.
