Recurring Cold, Cough, Fever. Treated With Augmentin, Emeset, Nose Drops, Less Weight Gain. Having Low Immunity?
My grandson has recurring cold and cough sometimes with fever since june.Since he throws up often milk has been stopped and soya milk from a tetra pack is given in the ratio of 100 ml diluted with 100 ml water 3 times a day.He has an egg ,a couple of cookies ,raw vegatables ...actually very little to eat though he loves food.He was just treated with augmentin ,emeset ,nasavion nose drops and tri minic syrup on the 2 of august 2013 til 7 august .Again he has cold and cough.His weight gain was great earlier.now it reduced by 500 gms and is stagnant since April.He is 1 year and 8 months old now,active but cranky during nights.pl advise.why does he get ill is it because of low immunity/?n is this soya providing nutrition?

Common cold,cough in children usually some what allergic and in this season most likely viral.
You have to give symptomatic treatment in most of time but antibiotic is needed in some cases.Augmentin and other treatment is on right way.
You can start multi vitamin,hemitinic and calcium supplement to boost up his immunity.
Try to avoid soya milk and give him routine pasteurized milk and be watchful after it for development of any symptoms because you are the best judge for this.

I can understand your concern.
Why was milk stopped in the first place. Was lactose intolerance proved with some investigations or was milk stopped just like that? Poor diet could be one of the causes of recurrent infections and lack of weight gain. Children in that age group require lot of calories and protein in diet because they are growing.
Please get your grandson checked by your doctor once. Get proper dietary advise and follow accordingly.
