Recurrent Swelling Of Knee Even After Icing, Solid Lump. What Should Be Done?

few months ago my knee swelled up like a softball on top. after icing it the swelling went away. few weeks ago it swelled again but not as bad. i think i had water on the knee and didnt get it drained but it went down some after icing it again. i still have a lump on my knee but now it is more solid then liquid. Question i guess would be, will it go away from continue icing?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The collection of water in the knee joint is likely to be due to a knee joint inflammation. This is not likely to go down completely only on icing. Anti inflammatory drugs and local steroid injections may be needed.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
