Reason For The Migraines Which Is Frequent?

I am having trouble with migraines occurring in clusters. Have had migraines since my teens - now am 51. Never had them in clusters until this past year. Was using Maxalt for them, but this week I had the worst one I ve had in over 30 years and the Maxalt did not work. Then had to take Vicodin with anti nausea meds (was vomiting from Tuesday 4 pm till Wednesday 6 PM) at which time I could try Relpax 24 hours after last Maxalt does. Relpax took the headache away but it rebounded again today. Neurologist recommending trying a nerve block in the AM but gal scheduling says they won t do unless you are in midst of the attack? Is that typical? I hate to think I can t control the pain until then. And I thought a nerve block was meant to be a longer term attempt at relieving the headache process? If not, I d rather find something more long term hopefully.

Hello
Migraine is one of the types of primary headaches and it is associated with nausea or vomiting and it comes in attacks and it is typically recurrent.
The treatment for recurrent attacks is by using beta blockers or by using drugs like flunarizine. When these prophylactic drugs are used the frequency of attacks is decreased and you will have disease free period.
Hence I advice you to consult your doctor for prescription of prophylactic drugs.

Thank you
