Reason For Sudden Increase In Pulse Rate?

Hi doctor !
About two weeks ago, after a small party, I got home, and while I was reading a document in bed, I heard the beating of my heart (from my head on my pillow) was very fast. I used my blood pressure monitor and I found out that my pulse was 128. This make me very worry. I drunk a lot of plain water, I breath deep after that and I gauged my blood several times. The last was 12 am, but it still about 125. I felt in sleeping after that. I wake up at 3 am, and I gauged again, now my pulse became 66. I did not know what reason! What I could do next time when I get it.

Hi i read your query very carefully.

This is a typical tachycardia that may be triggered by:
- stress
- alcohol
- caffeine
- enrgic drink
- carbonated drink

If this happen again you can use betablockers (atenolol 50 mg) to help to slow down your HR.

Hope it was of Help!
