Rashes In Body After Intake Of Vimovo For Suspected Rheumatoid Arthritis. Test Result Negative For Arthritis. Side Effects?

About a year and a half ago I had some sudden inflammation and a doctor prescribed Vimovo. He thought I might have rheumatoid arthritis but the tests keep coming back negative. However the Vimovo really seemed to help so I'm still on it. However I've developed a rash that won't go away; it's been months. Could this be the Vimovo? Is the Vimovo doing me any good if I don't have arthritis? When I stop it I get a lot of heartburn, which I used to have before I took it.

hello, I have got your question.actually you are taking anti inflammatory drugs with antacids in a tablet total.but long term use of that can cause renal problem and many other side effects.so please try to get rid of that.ask your doctor for full check up and follow the instructions of doctor.there are many ways of checking your pain other than taking medications.like physiotherapy, physical activities regularly checking some blood parametres, changing food habits etc.so first of all consult with your doctor.thank you.

Hi

Thanks for your query to Health Care Magic.

Vimovo is a combination of 2 drugs:
1.     Naproxen, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) indicated for the relief of pain
2.     Esomeprazole magnesium, an antacid for the relief of heartburn and prevention of development of gastric ulcer mainly caused by NSAIDs like Naproxen present in this drug.

Vimovo is mainly used for the symptomatic treatment of diseases like osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis thus prescribed in your case.

Yes, Rash which you are experiencing is most probable due to the drug as Naproxen part of it is known to cause such rashes.

You can continue taking this drug for relief of your symptoms under doctor’s supervision where he will be mainly evaluating whether you are developing any problems with the drug like rashes, gastric ulcers etc.

Your heart burns are mainly caused by Naproxen component of the drug whereas it is taken care by Esomeprazole component of the drug.

Hope that answers your query

Wishing you a quick recovery

With Best Regards

Take Care:)
