Purple Bruising With Swelling At The Surgical Site Post C-section, Extending Below The Pubic Bone. Normal?

I am inquiring about serious purple bruising at the surgical site post-c-section. The bruising has extended over this day to encompass the entire area distal to the scar (basically down past the pubic bone. The c-section was late in the day on Tuesday, July 10. Today is the 14th. It seems to be swelling somewhat more as well.

Hi,
Some people tend to bruise more than others and this is likely to settle down over the next few days. Serious bruising can be caused by a blood clotting problem. However, if you had a problem such as this, there would have been bleeding problems during the C-section.
Regards,
Dr K A Pottinger,
