Projectile Vomit, Ash Colored Stool, Cold Symptoms. Had Bronchiolitis. Worry?

Hi. My 7month old daughter projectile vomited an extremely large amount and has been having ash colored poop the past 2 days? She still seems happy and content but the vomiting was a bit worrisome. She had brinchialitis 3 weeks ago and is now having cold symptoms. Any comments or advice would be helpful at least to know if I should take her to emergency or if it can wait until her regular doctor tomorrow.

Hi,

Thank you for your query.

Did your daughter have only one vomit or a few of them? If it has been only one than you can wait and watch. Give her plenty of small oral fluids which she should retain. In case she vomits again then you can give her ondanseteron 2 ml. to control the vomiting. It is quite likely she vomited following a throat infection as you mention she is having cold symptoms.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your daughter an early recovery.
