Problem With Eyes, Dizziness While Standing, Tingling In Head And Fingers. Have Low Bp, Mitral Valve Prolapse. Treatment?

When I stand up, my eyesight goes black and I get very dizzy like I'm going to fall over. I get a very unpleasant burning, tingling rushing to my head and my fingers. I know I have low blood pressure, a mitral value prolapse from Rheumatic Fever, and the doctor said this was probably vasa vagal syncope. It is getting worse. Everytime I stand. I try to keep my feet up, but I get up and walk about 5 steps then it hits me. What can I do?

Hi, Thanks for using HCM.

As you are already having low blood pressure to heart problem, every time you get up from sitting position there will drop in blood pressure( which occurs even in normal person) which is going to aggravates your symptoms. You can try few measures like compression stockings to lower limbs helps to prevent fluid collection lower limb, do some exercises for calf muscles before getting up.
Get blood pressure measured in supine position and standing position , If drop in BP is more than 20mmhg, goes in more favor of postural hypotension. Consult your doctor for examination and discuss with him regarding postural hypotesion.

Hope this helps you.

Regards
