conjunctivitis is easily controlled by handwashing & the germs are easily killed by heat. keep hands clean & clean babies hands with soap and warm water. avoid touching your eyes. avoidance of infection includes maintaining a healthy diet - free of sweets, full of fresh vegetables, taking vitamin c and carrots for vitamin a. application of a warm compress to the eye usually will kill the germs quickly. for yourself, apply heat to the eyes 3 -4 times a day & that will prevent problems.

Conjunctivits is acute infection of the eyes. It spreads from one person to other if both are sharing their person items like kerchief, towel. So avoid using the towel, kerchiefs of the infected person

I think my son has conjunctivitis and I think his eyes will be crusted over in the morning as he has a constant flow of puss coming from them. I will take him to the doctors in the morning but was wondering if a bit of Vaseline on his lashes would prevent them crusting over tonight?

Hi Im on my 27th week of pregnancy and I got conjuntivitis from my husband. Its very infectious. I am worried because he is only cleaning his eyes, and I may not give myself this luxury if there is any chance the disease will reach my baby and harm his eyes. Is there anything I may take to prevent this and heal faster? I am allergic to tetracyclin. Thank you, Vanessa
