Prescribed NVR D20 Capsule For ADHD Problem. Is It Safe To Open It And Mix With Applesauce And Feed The Child?

My grandson is prescribed NVR D20 for his behavior and ADHD and it comes in capsule form with little balls inside the capsule. My grandson's mother opens the capsule and puts the balls into his applesauce because he is unable at age 7 to swallow pills. With this being an extended release capsule I do not know if opening it and putting the balls in his food is safe? I am concerned that with this being extended release that this could be harmful? Can you help me with this?

NVR D20 is focalin XR and as you said comes in capsule with beads in it.

As long as the beads are not crushed/chewed/divided and are swallowed as a whole without chewing it should be perfectly ok.
In fact it is suggested that one of the ways that you can take this capsule for those who cannot swallow the capsule as a whole is to open the capsule and sprinkle the beads over a spoonfull of applesauce and swallow it right away without chewing.

As long as he is not chewing the beads, it is perfectly fine in taking it the way he is.
