Prescribed Microgynon for heavy periods. Worried that medicine will worsen acne

Hi, I am 45 and have had acne on my chin area since my teens. I was on dianette which cleared my skin perfectly but came off about ten years ago. I am now suffering with very heavy periods and my doctor suggested microgynon 30. I have been researching this pill on the Internet and am worried it will make my acne worse. I am also on zineryt. Please can you advise me. Thank you

Hi ,
Thanks for posting your query.
Microgynon contains female hormone analogues and is known to flare up the acne by increase in sebum secretion. But heavy periods is also a problem and must be managed.
You should consult a dermatologist and get modern medicines which reduce secretion of sebum. The drug and dose your doctor would know.
Hope I have answered your query.
