Prescribed Ginet For PCOS, Gaining Weight, Mood Swings, Bad Headaches. Are These Side Effects ?
Hi there,my 14yr old daughter was diagnosed with polycistic ovaries 4months ago and perscribed ginet-84 she was a big girl to start
with and has now gained alot more weight,also her mood has become not nice and really bad headaches that cause her to vomit,could these be side effects and is there another pill out there with not so much side effects please?

Ginet 84 ( ingredients are cyproterone acetate+ethynylestradiol ) is prescribed for Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome ( PCOS) .
Let me explain you the side effects of these two ingredients of ginet .
Ethynylestradiol's side effects are fluid retention ,weight gain, increased appetite,mental depression.( besides there are many other side effects).
Cyproterone 's side effects are ( beside other )depressive mood changes, fatigue lassitude alterations in hairs patterns.
Since your daughter is just 14 years so please note down few things about PCOS, as to note ,
1 androgen excess causing hirsutism & acne.
2menstrual irregularities,dysfunctional uterine bleeding.
3 Obesity as in your daughter case.
4 Alteration in L H / F S H ratio.
5 Elevated serum testosterone level.
6 Atretric follicles with increased ovarian stroma in ultrasound findings.
Please get in blood for hormonal level with ultrasound of both ovaries.
In my opinion consult another Gynaecologist and get his opinion (2 nd ) and take treatment according to condition.
