This is really confusing, but i believe in this modern world with adoption of westren culture we need premarital screening. safety is first. i do go fo premarietal counselling. it is not only of hiv, but also helps in preventing the congenital and hereditary disease being transmitted to the offsprings
what kind of premarital check-up are you talking about? In some countries govt has made it compulsory for people to undergo HIV testing before marriage. I'd say you may want to get a HIV test done before marriage. Havent heard of any other kind of test being of any value before marrying.
Hi! I am 38 weeks pregnant . My doctor says it is not necessary to check my cervix until I start having contractions. Is this standard ? My doctor also says I do not need another ultrasound . I only had one at 20 weeks. My sister insists that is not normal. What do you recommend ?

Am working in Dubai and will be having a medical test soon. MOH Dubai is checking following lab test: 1) Prevalence of malaria: by Giemsa stained thick blood films 2) Hepatitis B is diagnosed by detecting the surface antigen ( HbsAg ) and hepatitis C by detecting antibodies to HCV (HCVAb) using ommercial enzyme immunoassay (EIA) kits from ABBOTT company, Germany. The presence of HBsAg was confirmed by a seroneutralization test of the same company. For HCVAb screening, all specimens with absorbance value equal to or greater than the cut-off value were rechecked and considere das reactive only if both ELISA results were positive.Reactive sera were confirmed by Liatek from rganon. Antibodies to HIV were also tested in Virology Laboratory using commercial enzyme mmunoassay (ELISA) kits of ABBOTT, 3rd genration. All positive samples are confirmed by estern blot analysis from Bio-Rad test.
