Pregnant With Brownish Spotting. Ultrasound Normal. Concerned

I'm 17 weeks pregnant and have brown discharge. I had this at 14 weeks it went away after 2-3 days and last Sunday and also went away after 2-3 days but it's back today and it is quite thick. At 14 weeks I had an ultrasound and everything was fine there was no indication to why this was happening. Last Sunday they heard bubs heart beat on the Doppler n said it was fine but couldn't do an ultrasound as there was no teck there. I am concerned something is wrong. I have no cramping just a stretching feeling.

OB & GYN Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Mild spotting is quite common during pregnancy period. If your USG scan and fetal heart beats are quite good, then you have nothing to worry.

Brown discharge occurs mostly due to hormonal imbalance, vaginal infection etc. Here, you need to rule out asymptomatic vaginal infection by one vaginal swab test. Maintain your genital hygiene properly. Do periodic check up as per schedule.

All the best.

Hi,
Thanks for your query.
Sometime in pregnancy there is brown discharge which may be normal due to hormonal changes or because of implantation bleeding. In your case fetal heart is normal and there is only brown discharge no bleeding, may be its normal.
You should consult a gynecologist and get your ultrasonography done to rule out that there is no subchorionic bleed and your baby is growing healthily, may be she will give you some progesterone support.
Good Luck.
Take care
