Pregnant, Ultrasound Shows Heart Rate Of 119 Bpm. Is This Normal ?

I've worked in obstetrics for over 10 years. I have 1 living, 1 missed and am currently 7 wks 6 days pregnant. I had an u/s and was approximately 6 wks and 5 days with a fetal heart rate of 119 bpm. Is this normal? I am trying not to worry with the knowledge I have of threatened abortion, but I'm human. What advice can you give?

Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM

Normal fetal heart rate at this age is 120-160 beats per minute.
By definition it is bradycardia but there may be variation 0f 5-15 beats per minute. so, repeat it.
You don't have other symptoms like vaginal bleeding or abdominal cramps ,so don't worry at all.

Take care
Dr Indu Bhushan
