Pregnant, Suffering From Eczema On Thighs, Hips, Buttocks. Using Betnovate. Side-effects And Treatment?

I am 24 weeks pregnant and suffering badly with eczema . I visited the GP at around 5 weeks pregnant and she prescribed Betnovate which I have been using since. I have only just read that this is dangerous for my baby. 1. what is the risk for my baby? 2. how can I control this eczema that is covering my thighs, hips and buttocks in large patches?

This medicine should not be used during pregnancy unless considered essential by your doctor. If it is prescribed by your doctor it should not be used on large areas of skin, underneath airtight dressings, or for prolonged periods of time. You should consult your own doctor for further information.

Have you tried to use the full range of topical emollients/moisturizers available (oilatum cream, oilatum baths etc)?

I would recommend that if you are using the betnovate (which is at the stronger end of the steroid spectrum) that you use it very sparingly and ONLY in the worst affected areas.
I hope this helps
