Pregnant, Red Splotch On Leg After Pedicure. What Could It Be?

In March I had a pedicure . That very day I started getting a red splotch on my leg above the ankle. Sometimes it looks like its drying up then comes back just the same. Feels like there is a small bump under the skin. Sometimes it itches, most times I forget it s there. And all the color fades when I press on it. Doctors keep prescribing an anti fungal but there has been no change to size, color or shape. What could it be? I m also 36 weeks pregnant and was only a few weeks pregnant when I first got it.

Hi there.

The fact that the lesion started on the same day as the pedicure could be incidental or coincidental!

Please get a skin biopsy done if dermatologists' have already treated you with antifungals & no relief recieved.

The skin biopsy & histopathology report will be conclusive.

This will not affect your pregnancy status. It could just be a dry eczematous patch.

Alternatively, you could try using a topical steroid-antibiotic cream for a week & see the results together with a good moisturiser. But do remember this will modify the picture & a subsequent biopsy will be redundant!

Hope have guided you in the right direction as best online as possible.
Wish you a quick recovery & a safe delivery. Please do visit a dermatologist when time permits. Cheerz!
