My gestational age is 27 weeks +2. Based on measurement: 27 weeks +1. My ultrasound report shows the following things about my son:
- His head is lemon shaped. - Spine is open in the lumbo sacral region involving about 3 to 4 vertebrae and meningies are seen (bulging) through it. No definite mennegocele. - Liquor is 17.8 cms - Fetal heart, stomach bubble, kidneys, urinary bladder appears to be normal - Fetal hands and limbs normal and movement observed.
Is everything normal since my doctor says she cannot say anything right now and will wait for the baby to come out. I am getting REALLY tensed due to her unclear answer. Can you help with a detailed answer??
The reports presented are suggestive of a normally evolving baby. However, it might deserve another control scan since ultrasound is an operator dependent examination and is very liable to variation or some error. Blood tests to exclude any abnormalities could be asked based on the results of the control scan. If there is not history of any malformations in the past and no clinical signs and symptoms, I do not think you really have to worry. Kind regards.
