Pregnant, Fainting. Prescribed Increase In Eltroxine Dosage. Suggestions?

I m pregnant and third trimester is running .I m taking 150 mg eltroxine .even though my T4 is 16and tsh 9.5. I have consulted doctors but some advising increase dose and some saying decrease or remain previous one.I'm totally confuse whom should I follow.since last one week I m suffering faints .is thyroid cause.please help me

Hi,

Please mention the unit for the level if it is pmol/L or ng/dl along with the reference rage that is mentioned in the report for the particular lab as it is not possible to comment upon the levels without these.

You can check it yourself in the report.
If the level of TSH is more than the highest level in the reference value than there is a need to increase the dose. This is because the body is secreting more and more TSH to bring the T3 and T4 to functioning levels.
Regarding T4, the free T4 level is important rather than the total T4. If free T4 is less than dose needs to be increased. Even if free T4 is normal but TSH is raised still the dose needs to be increased.

The dose needs to be decreased if TSH is normal or below normal and then a retest after 3 months to see if the body is adjusting to this dose or it needs to be changed again.
If you are having fainting, check your blood hemoglobin, sugar and your blood pressure as abnormalities in any of these can lead to fainting rather than thyroid.
