Hi, I m 36 yrs old n 14 weeks pregnant. I have a 7 yrs old girl. A recent sonography detected I have a bulky uterus with small left posterior wall interstitial fibroid measuring 18×23×17mm. I have not experienced any of the symptoms of fibroid as stated on the internet. The fetus is not showing any abnormilites. Will I have a healthy baby? Will I have any complications? Hi,

Fibroids are common and it can effect the pregnancy depending upon the location, size and what they are addressing. Due to hormonal changes in pregnancy Uterus grows in size to accommodate growing fetus, and fibroid may grow simultaneously. Fibroid can cause various complications like pain, risk of miscarriage in early pregnancy, preterm labour, placental separation, blocking of fetal descent, blocking expulsion of placenta.
Fibroids, while generally harmless, can increase the risk of complications during pregnancy both for you and for your baby. So you and your doctor should monitor it carefully and be cautious.
