Pregnant. Lump In Chest. Worried About Relapse, Reoccurrence. What Is The Cause?
I am the mother of a 19 year old who is pregnant with first child. She has been in remission for 5 yrs from ALL dx at 3yrs old. She has a newly discovered lump on her left chest below clavicle. There are no plans to biopsy or remove until after she gives birth in Nov. I am concerned about relapse and reoccurrence as well as the cause and development of this lump. She was treated with IV chemo for awhile. What are the risks to her and the baby?
Thanks for your query. CHEMOTHERAPY can be TERATOGEN for the developing fetus, as it is in remission stage, hence it is advisable not to take any ALL medications. The lump could be developing breast glands, which gets hypertrophied during pregnancy. Its better you get her evaluated from hemato oncologist.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you. In case of any doubt, I will be available for follow ups.
Wish you good health.
Regards,
Dr Arif
