Pregnant. Have Uti And Strep B, Hospitalized. Administered With Antibiotics And Fluids. What To Do?

i am 38wks pregnant and just been discharged from the maternity unit as i had a uti the dr gave me antibiotics and losts of fluid through a drip. on the way home my midwife phoned and said there was strep b in my urine and i would need antibiotics again as as my waters break as ive had a small show and the mucus plug has already come away they scanned my baby today and said he is fine what does all this mean i am 16years old and do not understand it all?

Group b strep is a dangerous bacteria for babies. If the baby becomes infected with it , then serious infection such as meningitis can occur.

This bacteria is easily treated with antibiotics and should respond once you take the course of medication suggested.

All pregnant women are screened for this infection to reduce the chances of passing it on to the baby.

Your baby should be fine once the medication is used.
