Pregnant. Echo Doppler Test Showed Rapid Heartbeat Of Baby. What To Do?

Doctor..my wife s 9th month will start from 25th nov 2012....On gynae s advise we went for ECHO Droppler test... Heart beats are coming 122....from ECG baby s heart beat coming more then 160....Gynae has suggested her for admitting to hospital post few test if heart beats doesn t come fine then they ll go for csaerean..Pls advise

Thanks for the query.

Fetal heart beat can show fluctuations during monitoring which is called accelerations of the heart beat.
During this the heart beat can increase to 15 to 20 beats above the baseline.
But it will not persist and comes to normal soon. So if the heart beat remains high continuously that can indicate fetal distress and may need active intervention.
