Pregnant. Constant UTI, Pain In Stomach. Prescribed Amoxicillin. History Of Frequent UTI. Possible Harm For Baby?
Hello. I am 4 months pregnant and since the age of 13, I have had at least one water infection (uti) a month. However since becoming pregnant, it has been constant. My midwife has informed me that this is harmful to the baby. I have been given amoxicillin and have been taking it at the recommended dose. My course of tablets is now up and the pain of my uti is worse than before and is causing a lot of pain in my stomach. I planned to visit my doctors tomorrow however they are closed. What would you recommend? And is this water infection going to cause harm to my baby?
Hi, Any infection during pregnancy should not be neglected as it has adverse effect on fetus. For your chronic UTI, go for urine culture and sensitivity test for specific bacteria and antibiotic working against it. After report consult your doctor and go for long specific antibiotic medicine course safe to fetus. Take plenty of water. Keep local part clean and hygienic. Ok and take care.
