Pregnant. Cervix Examination, Dilated, Brown Discharge. Worry?

my doctor examined my cervix today and she said i am only 1cm dilated ( i am 39 weeks pregnant) about a few hours later i went to the bathroom and noticed that my underwear were full of this mostly brown discharge but with a little red tint to it , i went to the labor and delivery and said everything was fine but they did not examine me , im just wondering what it was and if it means anything

Thanks for your query.
If you were examined and everything was said to be normal, it most probably is.
As you near labour and the cervix dilates, you would have some brownish bloody discharge.
That is normal.
If the bleeding increases or pain is unremitting, then please go to the ER again.
