Hello,
A missed abortion indicates that the pregnancy has stopped progressing and it needs an evacuation either by medical or surgical means. This is usually caused by defective formation of the zygote. There are usually genetic defects contributing to this. Poor decidual reaction is seen when there is not enough hormone to help the growth of the endometrium and as such there is not enough ground for the conceptus (product of conception) to implant into the uterus. This can lead to an abortion. Your wife would need an evacuation and future counselling and prenatal care. Hope this information is useful. Take care.
