Pounding heartbeat during sleep, not able to sleep properly. What is wrong?

Looking for help. Keep waking up after falling asleep for 15-25 mins, and heart is pounding. Use breathing to slow it down. Go back to sleep, happens again. This has happened to me semi frequently. I traveled all day yesterday, and in another half hour I will have been up for 24 hours. Afraid to go to sleep.what can I do?

dear ericpmillar,
welcome to hcm.
It would be very informative if u could kindly mention ur age, profession involved in.
It usually happens after a long day tiresome travel as u've mentioned. Try taking bath before going to bed with lukewarm water and reading some good books with a soft music played at a very low volume and having soundful thoughts without trying hard to recall any untoward incidents in the recent past and have a few sips of water.
Please do not think about the sleeplessness and corelate anything with respect to that.
Thank you:-)
Have a happy day, sorry, hav a sound sleep :-)
