Popping noise from hand, no swelling, bruising, sharp pain in palm of hand. Treatment?

I was moving an air compressor in my garage this am and felt something in my hand pop and was in pain immediately. I have no noticeable swelling or bruising yet. However, there is a sharp shooting pain through the palm of my hand (like my hand was stabbed) and I can not make a hard fist. My fingers seem to work fine, but my hand will not stop hurting. Any idea?

Thanks for your query.

I would suggest you that you visit your near doctor & get an xray done. Since there is a sharp shooting pain associated with pop, a fracture needs to be ruled out. So kindly visit your doctor & let him clinically evaluated. Till that time avoid brisk movement of hands or lifting heavy weights.
take care.
