Pleural Effusion, No Signs Of Malignant Cells. Biopsy Scheduled. Cancer Of The Pleura?

my sister has had pleura effusion - fluid showed no signs of malignant cells but the specialist said tonight that she has to have a biopsy done. The CT scan and fluid analysis has yet turned up nothing...could she have cancer of the pleura and if so is this curable? also, does palliative care mean just chemo till she dies?

Pleural effusion has many causes. Before answering this question I need ful history. If ct scan is inconclusive where from your doctor thinks of biopsy. Pleural involvement with malignancy should be considered when other causes are ruled out.
