This is prudent to give iron suppliment after confirmation of iron deficiency this is one of common anaemia in women and children.males hemoglobin
Once anemia is there it is oral iron elemental is given . Low dose may be used as lower dose better tolerated.
rate of rise of hemoglobin is invesely proportional to initial Hb level.
In approxemately 6 to 8 weeks Hb may become normal but suppliments must continue for 6 monts to replenish body iron stores.
