Placenta Abruption During Pregnancy. Why Did It Happen? Chances Of Recurrence?

Hi!!! I am a 44 year old woman and have 12 children. Last year while 36 weeks pregnant, my baby stopped kicking as much, and by day 2 of this pattern, I went in to see my Dr. they did an emergency c-section, and she took 1 breath and died, she was revived and is doing great now. I was told at my 2 week checkup that I had an placenta abruption. I did not have this problem with any of my other pregnancies and am wondering why this one and will it happen again? I did have a stomach virus with this pregnancy and had to have IV therapy for dehydration. Also now that I have had a c-section what are the risks of uterine rupture if I were to get pregnant again.

hello,
Abruptio placentae is defined as the premature separation of the placenta from the uterus. Patients with abruptio placentae, also called placental abruption, typically present with bleeding, uterine contractions, and fetal distress. A significant cause of third-trimester bleeding associated with fetal and maternal morbidity and mortality, placental abruption must be considered whenever bleeding is encountered in the second half of pregnancy.Previous history of abruptions still remains a risk factor. And coming to the rupture of uterus you have more chances as you have 12 children and your age.So try to avoid it for your better health.Thank you.
