Pinched Nerve In Upper Back. Taking Steroids, Muscle Relaxers. Muscle Spasms Near Shoulder, Spine. Duration To Get Cured?
Hi, I'm 46 yrs old and have a pinched nerve in my upper back. The orthopedic said it was coming from my neck. Anyway, he put me on steroids, a muscle relaxer and gave me some pain medicine. This all started over a week ago and is only getting worse. I am having severe muscle spasms up near my shoulder and spine, and feel like I have a knife stabbing me right on my spine if I move wrong or pick something up..even something as simple as a glass. So, my question is...how long will this last, the pain I mean..and should I go back and maybe get a spinal block?...I am basically in the bed not able to move:( and I have 3 children so sadly it's hard to just lay here. But the pain is the worst I have ever felt...way worse than child birth...I mean it literally feels like I'm being stabbed. And, ohhh the spasm..it's like when you have them in you're leg/calf...it locks up and rolls. Soo, what do you recommend?

if pain bothers you and doctor has mentioned the focus of its origin that is neck spine. You can try some more options like spinal block or intra thecal steroid injections or many more ways to combat pain, sitting in the bed and letting youself suffer along with the kids is no way the treatment option,
See your doctor or visit nearby pain management center for help and i am sure they will come up with a plan just suitable for you.
Usually it takes maximum 3 months to relieve all the symptoms.
