No no yasmeen can be taken safely for as long as 2-3 years. As polycystic ovaries cause hormonal imbalance and hence irregular periods, taking yasmeen brings about hormonal balance and tlregularises the period. So it is helpful in curing the hormonal imbalance it won't have any long term side effects till 2-3 years of use. Other thing you need to take care in polycystic ovaries is reduction of weight, and diet restriction
After marriage plan for pregnancy soon as you might need doctors assistance for concieving due to hormonal imbalance. Nothing to worry just take care.

OBGYN Dr. Shanti Vennam's  Response
Polycystic ovaries are the commonest feature seen in majority of women in the reproductive age group with a complaint of irregular or no periods, acne, obesity and/or hirsutism. The condition is essentially a hormonal imbalance with a disturbance of HPO axis and mostly presents with infertility. Yet, it is the one condition that respond very well to treatment. Yasmin(ethinyl estradiol+drospirenone) is a good combination to be used in the treatment of this condition and you can continue with it as long as you need with regular monitoring. Also, maintain a healthy body weight and eat fresh fruits and vegetables, do some regular exercise, as this will help a long way in controlling your problem. Do not worry about having kids-many women with PCOD have a very good reproductive life with treatment. Take care.
