Pea Sized Bump Below Ear, Parotid Tumor Or Infection Of Lymph Node ?

My 17 year old daughter has a pea size bump between the lower part of her ear and the portion on the jaw bone where it takes a 90 degree bend. She has complained of pain and is now on anntibiotics and has noticed that the bump seems to be less painfull but has changed sizes. We have an appointment with an ENT in 7 days. My question is, what are the chances that this is a Parotid tumor vs. an infection in the lymph node?

At this age and with the history provided by you higher are the possibilities of it being a reactive lymph node , kindly visit a cytopathologist and get a fine needle aspiration done , it is a very simple procedure done under local anesthesia , non-traumatic and you will get the report quickly this will solve the issue of a reactive lymph node / parotid gland tumor either case management is different and will be done accordingly . Visiting an ENT specialist won't solve the issue. if your daughter has a history of fever , any infection of upper respiratory tract etc then our diagnosis is the first possibility in that case simple treatment of the cause by routine antibiotics will do the job and swelling will gradually subside . Wishign all the best to your daughter , if u have any more query do ask .
