Passed Blood Clots, Red Urine, No Pain. Heavy Drinker. Suggestion?

My brother phoned to tell me he passed about 3 blood clots and had red urine last weekend. He had no pain when passing this urine . He is a 41year old male and lives alone . I suspect he does not take much care of himself . I know he an be a moderate to heavy drinker mainly on the weekends . He is reluctant to see a Doctor about this . I have recommended that he should . Is there anything else I can tell him? Thanks, Adrienne Lawler

Your brother had an episode of visible haematuria which is asymptomatic.
It should not be ignored as it can point towards a disease process.
Common causes include UTI, urinary tract stones, urethritis, benign prostatic hypertrophy or cancer or bladder tumours,
You insist that he must get himself examined by a urologist along with a urine examination and ultrasonogram.
