Painful Vulvar Vestibule, Yeast Infection, Had UTI, Was Spotting. Prescribed Fluconazole. Is It Due To Lack Of Estrogen?

Hi, I m 25 and I have been experiencing pain in the vulvar vestibulum for about month. This only happens when I touch it directly but it hurts so much the doctor could not insert the speculum. She said there is no sign of irritation though. I have no history except that I just treated a UTI last month. Now I have a vaginal yeast infection. I was prescribed fluconazole for it, as that could be the cause. However, I was reading that lack in estrogen could also lead to an athrophiated vestibulum. I do have a Nexplanon which was inserted in June. That does not contain estrogen... which makes me worry that the implant is not helping my situation. Before this pain started, I was spotting for 3 weeks continuously. What do you advise? Thanks

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The recurrent yeast infection, dryness of the vulva and pain and chaffing in the area can be due to decreased levels of estrogen. Avoid using any perfumed toiletries as allergic cause also needs to be ruled out.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
