Painful Ankle, Swelling, Tingling In Foot And Ankle. History Of Fracture In Left Fibula, On Walking Boot For 6 Weeks. Normal?
Hi, 9 weeks ago I broke my left fibula. I wore a walking boot for 6 weeks (until 6/26/13). After 6 weeks I was told by the orthopedic dr. that the ankle was sufficiently healed and I could remove the boot. I was give a theraband and some exercises to do, which I have followed up on. Over these last 3 weeks by ankle continues to be painful and swells when I walk on it. Once I am home from work I keep it elevated but the swelling does not go down. Now, in addition to this I am experiencing tingling on the top, side and bottom of my foot & ankle. Is this normal? thank you
hi,welcome to HCM thanks for the query.. tingling and numbness is always a result of stimulation or irritation of the nerves or nerve endings.. as the orthopaedician confirmed that the fracture is healed and you have immobilised for 6 wks.... for you the cause of this could be due to swelling or theraband which might be causing more pressure than it should which is causing swelling and i think you are not overwt, donot have any coexisting medical illness and you have normal general health.. i suggest you to see the dr again and discuss about the problem get well soon, bye
