I have a very painful ankle...walking is okay but it is quite an effort to climb the stairs. I first had this pain three weeks ago and went to an osteopath and within a few days it disappear but then started severely again. I have taken two panadol today but to no avail. I am in general good health, with healthy eating and normal weight for my height. I do a brisk two miles walk on the treadmill five days a week plus lots of walking everywhere...help!!! Thank you so much...Elenor
Hi and thanks for the query,
its of utmost importance to determine whether this pain is of mechanical or inflammatory origin , for this shall shape the management. An X ray of the ankle is an appropriate exam to be done. Markers of inflammation like ESR and blood count parameters could tell us if there is an active inflammatory process going on or not.
Visiting your orthopedic surgeon for a proper evaluation and specific care is my advice.
Thanks and best regards,
Luchuo, MD.
