Pain In The Shoulder Due To Severe Calcified Tendonitis. Surgery Suggested. Concerned About Pain

I want to know if I have to stop taking medrol pack before my my test and about the pain of the test in a shoulder with xray revealed severe calcified tendonitis of the rotator cuff. A shot helped some but it is painful to the touch and to movement. Only surgery can fix it so they wanted a test. Nothing was explained so I was expecting a ct scan with maybe dye in the vein. Is it painful? Well tolerated? Must I stop the medrol pack I'm on? I saw a warning about aspirin and blood thinners for arthrograms and mylegrams.
