Pain In The Rib Area In The Back Radiating To Front. Chest X-ray, Blood Tests, ECG Normal. Opinion?

I seem to have stumped the doctors after chest xrays, blood work and ECG. First symptoms were severe pain in the rib area of my back and then spread around the front to cover 360 degrees. Four days of pain and sharp severe pain on some movement I went to The ER and after six hours I was sent home with pain meds and told to see a doctor Monday if it continued. Saw an internist Tuesday who is also stumped, any ideas?

Thanks

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
I would come up with these possibilities for this acute pain radiating on front side, these includes.
1 Herpes zoster, diagnosis can be confirmed by physical examination by a clinician .As you mentioned that pain started on the back side and radiating on front side . All other findings are normal as X ray , blood , E CG . This is suggestive of herpes . This is a most common pain of herpes.
2 Chondritis may be the next reason , but least possible reason.
In my opinion consult a physician and get his opinion as rash type will erupt within 3-4 days( more).
Good luck. Dr. HET
