Pain In Head. Feels Nausea, Smelling Fresh Tar. What Are The Complication?

Hi. My mother-in-law experiences periodic sharp pains in her head. She also seems to experience nausea from time to time. During the periods of nausea she has started to smell fresh tar. None of us smell this, but she does. Then after a while she feels better and the pain and smell go away. Is this a symptom of a disease or something we should be worried about? Thanks.

these symptoms are aura of smell area of brain - how long she had this symptom? she needs an urgent MRI brain study before you do anything- contact me after that.
