Pain In Crease Of Leg Behind Knee. Swollen Leg. Have Atrial Fibrillation And High Blood Pressure. Any Suggestion?
my mother is 81 years old and has severe pain in the crease of her leg behind her knee . The other day she could not get up by herself - had to be lifted. She also has some bumps - looks like clumps of blisters below and in the crease. Also has hardness the size of an egg above the crease of her left and right legs in back of legs. Her legs are also very swollen and hard. She also has high blood pressure and atrofibrilation. The bottom line is that today she can get up and walk only with a walker - the pain in her left leg comes and goes. She said when it first started it was the worst pain she ever had. Now, it goes from level 2 pain to level 8 pain.
She is having osteoarthritis of the knee joint. Also lumps you are feeling is called osteophytes. These are calcium deposit in joint. Now there cam be two treatment. 1. Steroid injection in both knee will give pain relief for one month. 2. Total knee replacement will give permanent cure. So choose options according to your wish.
