Pain Around The Multi Nodular Goitre Radiating To The Ear And Trachea, No Relief With Endone. Family History Of Thyroid Cancer. Is It Worrisome?

I have multi nodular goitre with the outer nodules being 14.4mm and 13.5mm on the left. For the past two weeks the larger one has been creating terrible pain around it - going to my ear and down as far as below the trachea. My mother had cancer of the thyroid and I guess I worry that something is changing in my thyroid. The oain is always worse at night and wakes me up. Two endone don t even totally relieve the pain. Good day.
Noted your problem. Have you ever had a needle test for on these nodules? Do you experience any voice change ?
The pain in neck area could be due to thyroid nodule as well as due to other issues in neck area. When there is inflammation in thyroid and if there is a bleeding with in a nodule, one may experience pain. As you mentioned, cancer infiltration to surrounding structures also can cause pain.,But feel relaxed. They are not common. Many thyroid cancers are slow growing and can be effectively treated.Noted that your Mom had thyroid cancer. What type was it? Papillary, Follicular, Medullary ?? Has any genetic tests done anytime on her? I would urge you to meet an endocrinologist ASAP and arrange for a Thyroid functuion tests, Ultrasound +/- Nuclear scan as well as needle test. Till then, you may take Panadol or Endone.
