Pain And Swelling In The Toe After An Injury. How Long Will It Take To Be Normal?

About 4 weeks ago, I dropped a 35 Lb weight on my big toe. It sis not break, and I used a buddy splint to help it heal. there is no brusing left, but there is still a little pain when I push off and the swelling is not all the way down. I do not have the ROM I do on the other foot using the same toe. How long before it is back to normal, and should I get it checked?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,
Welcome at HCM.

Generally a fractured bone does heal within 4-6 weeks. The swelling occurs concomitantly with fracture. After healing of bone this swelling gradually go away & may take 2-3 weeks more after healing of bone. The best way to have relief from pain & swelling is to have a good physiotherapy. You may have mild analgesic like advil for relief from pain.

Hope this will help you.
